Melissa & Doug's 'Birthday Party' Cake Set is on offer at £9.75 on Amazon. It's reduced from the RRP of £14.99, but the next best price I can see for it is £15.79 at The Entertainer, so even with the shipping fee, it's still a good price.
I'm still on the hunt for birthday presents for under £10, but that don't look like they necessarily cost less than £10, so this birthday party set from Melissa and Doug is great for my needs. And if I buy two for two different birthday recipients, my shipping is free, so that's an added saving and a definite bonus on the pocket.
The Birthday Party Cake Set is a 34-piece wooden role play set. It includes 6 ready-to-cut slices of cake, removable candles and toppings, as well as a sturdy serving tray and a spatula.
All the bits can be neatly stored in a wooden box, but it doesn't have a lid, which one of the reviewers complain about - I agree, this is something lacking on a lot of M&D toys!
Apparently this set makes 'slicing sounds' when cut. I have no idea how that works!
