Save yourself just over a tenner on this bargain. Tesco are selling this Mega Bloks table online for £11 off the recommended retail price. Taking the tarnish slightly off the deal for us, it wasn’t available for free instore collection at any store within reachable distance of us. We’d have to pay £5 for standard delivery. But if you can get it to a store, it remains a good buy.
When I was a kid, I much preferred spreading my stuff out over the floor. I expect mum and dad really appreciated those sharp little surprises as they trod on tiny plastic bits in unexpected places. It isn’t just about keeping things tidy though. Children do tend to prefer to play on raised surfaces – my son and my step son would both use anything to hand and if there wasn’t a table then the sofa would do. Plus, it means that they can be half way through a building project, and leave it to come back to later. Not so easy to do if the project is taking up space in the middle of the living room.
The 3-in-1 Play N Go Table includes blocks, building plates, decorated wall-plates, a car and fun figure for endless imaginative building and playing fun. According to the manufacturer it answers mum’s (but not dad’s?) basic needs: storage, portability and open-ended play. Well, as a mum I’m certainly in favour of all of those, but I think they need to have a re-think on what constitutes basic needs. A volume control dial for the child, a chilled wine dispenser and a box of chocolates would definitely be on my list!
