The Amazon Fire TV Stick is £25 at the moment, down from £35 over at Amazon.
It's a snazzy little gadget that connects to your TV's HDMI port. Why do you need a thing to do that? So you can watch Netflix, Amazon Prime Instant Video, BBC iPlayer, YouTube.com, plus listen to music and play games on your TV, allowing you to watch pretty much what you want, when you want.
If you have an Amazon Prime subscription, you'd be mad not to have one of these. We've got one, and it's blooming brilliant. My lads ADORE it because it lets them play Minecraft on the TV. That blows my mind a tad, and it does mean I have to endure them shouting at each other in the living room instead of quietly gaming in the corner of the room, but they reckon this is just about the best thing since sliced bread. Given the peace it buys me, I'm not inclined to argue.
Amazon customers have rated this 4.5 stars out of a possible 5 stars, with 2,777 customers awarding it the full 5 stars in their review. That's a pretty decent thumbs up.
One word of warning, however. Keep it out of reach of toddlers. At least one of these 'magic telly sticks' as they're called in our house has vanished without trace, and I'm suspecting the smallest member of the family.
