Would it surprise you to learn that Lego has been voted the greatest toy of all time?
That's according to toy industry experts, which surprises me just a little because surely the best judges of brilliant toys are, um, kids, no?
Anyway, who am I to argue? Lego is definitely the number one most popular toy in my house, so I'm not going to query this.
The Daily Mail reports:
Lego was named as the greatest toy of all time by industry experts, thanks to its combination of fun, creativity and value for money. Scrabble came in second on the list, followed by the Action Man doll, Frisbee and board game Monopoly.
The newspaper also reports that a cardboard box was ranked number 19 on the list of best toys ever. That one I have to dispute. I mean yes, my kids over the years have all had those moments of finding fun in the box that a birthday present or Christmas gift came in, but I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say that it's worthy of a spot on the list of best toys.
Am I alone in this, though? We'd love to hear your thoughts over on our Facebook page. What's your child's number favourite toy of all time, and do you have a toy from your own childhood that you think is deserving of the top spot on this list?
