Actress and new mum Jacqueline Jossa is a our fave new celeb parent, after opening up about her experience of post-pregnancy hair loss.
Jacqueline, who gave birth to a little girl named Ella in February, took to her Instagram account where she posted a picture of herself along with the caption:
"For all the new baby mummy's that might be losing some hair after birth, I'm right here with you, I think it's starting to slowly grow back, so it's all good guys!! Embrace it, and let's enjoy being with our beautiful little cuties!!"
Her post garnered 250 comments, with loads of other mums sharing their experiences of hair loss after having a baby. Some shared their recommendations for treatments and antidotes to the troubling condition.
Kudos to Jacqueline for talking about something which affects so many new mums, but which few of us are comfortable discussing.
During pregnancy, increased levels of the hormone oestrogen account for the thicker, fuller-looking hair which many women experience, but after giving birth those hormone levels drop back to normal, causing hair loss and shedding. It should settle down within 6-12 months but if not, visit your GP or talk to your health visitor.
Did you experience hair loss after giving birth? We'd love to hear your experiences and feelings on the matter over on our Facebook page.
