When is Mother's Day 2020?
Mother's Day (or Mothering Sunday) in the UK is on Sunday 22nd March 2020. The date changes every year in the UK as it is linked to the changing Easter celebrations. Many other countries celebrate Mother's Day at a different time of the year from the UK.
Why is Mother's Day different in the UK?
Mother's Day in the UK has a changing date each year as it is always held on the fourth Sunday of Lent, as this was traditionally when Christians would visit their 'mother church', and that's why we also refer to it as Mothering Sunday. Many other countries have a fixed date each year to celebrate mothers, and refer to the day specifically as Mother's Day to reflect a non-religious origin.
