Are you struggling already to keep the children occupied over the summer holidays? Well, Oxford Owl have made a huge selection of children’s eBooks free to read online.
With over 250 to choose from, there’s something to suit every child. From ages three right up to eleven, they can find something to suit their ability.
Reading is such an important life skill. Whether it’s reading to them or having them read to you, it’s always a pleasure.
The great thing about these eBooks is that Oxford Owl have made them very tablet friendly, which means they should be usable on most tablets/e-readers.
To claim your free access you need to register or log in to the Oxford Owl site. This only takes 2 minutes to do as they require only very basic information. They'll send you a confirmation email which also takes about 3 minutes to arrive.
Once registered, you can log on and go to the Tablet Friendly section (follow the owl!) and all the books with an 'e' on them are tablet friendly and accessible. You still have the option of purchasing paper books - those without the 'e'. This opens a reader, which younger children would probably needs some help with, but no downloads are required. (I tested it on a Kindle Fire HDX) There are also 'Play activities' for that interactive gaming element.
Oxford Owl books are great to help your child prepare for starting school or to advance on to the next year. My youngest gets Oxford Owl books home for reading from school, so now we can practice over the summer.
It does look like you need internet access to access the books.
