What Do Mums Really Want For Christmas?

Hey mums, what do you REALLY want for Christmas?

My beloved other half keeps asking me this and won't take any of my ideas seriously.

Lovely as a spa day might be and much as I'd love something silver and sparkly under the tree this year, all I really want is some proper lovely down-time with my family.

Yes, it's cheesy as all-get-out but never a truer word was spoken. As a mum of three with kids who range from nursery right through to high school, let's just say that things get a little fraught in our house right around now.

If we're not rushing between Christmas shows we're panic-buying presents for the teachers. I just can't wait until the kids have finished school and the madness can just slow down a bit. I feel like I'm limping towards the moment I can open the Baileys and weep over Love Actually for the millionth time.

I even find myself thinking what a relief it'll be to get to Christmas Eve when the shops have finally shut and I'll be forced to just stop worrying about what I might have forgotten to do.

I can't wait to kick back with our Christmas Eve box and my babies.

I'm going to make hot chocolate in the slow cooker and let them gorge themselves on marshmallows and squirty cream until they beg to go to bed. (Yeah, I know that'll never happen.)

And yes, they'll squabble just like every other day of the year but it'll be a Christmassy squabble and I'll have my feet up and my out-of-office notification on. Bliss. Money can't buy that.

So, darling, don't waste your money on fancy presents. If you really want to push the boat out you can buy me a posh bottle of gin and any sort of chocolate as long as it's the kind the kids hate.

But then let's just collapse on the sofa and revel in the rest that eventually comes when the festive season finally inches to its conclusion.

What about you? What do you most want for Christmas this year, and is it something money can buy?

Along with many other mothers a decent nights sleep. I would like my daughter to be able to sleep in her own bed and sleep all night every night. The most important of course is health and happiness for my family but I really can't take anymore sleepless nights. Maybe I should put eye bag surgery on my Christmas list ☺️
