Sir Chris Hoy & Wife Sarra Welcome Baby Boy Born At 29 Weeks

Sir Chris Hoy

Sir Chris Hoy and his wife Sarra have welcomed a baby boy into their lives, two months earlier than expected.

The proud new Dad and Olympic Gold medallist tweeted:

Amazed, delighted & a little shocked to announce the birth of our beautiful baby son, Callum David Robert Hoy! Born at 29weeks, today at 2pm.

Sir Chris, who has won more gold medals than any other British athlete, also shared this touching snap on Twitter of the premature baby's tiny hand clutching someone's finger - presumably his Daddy's.

Later, Chris tweeted again:

Although v.early days for wee Callum, he's doing well as is @SarraHoy. Huge thanks to the incredible medical staff.

The couple's bundle of joy was due to be a Christmas baby - his due date was December 27 - but he arrived 11 weeks early. Twitter has been awash with well-wishers tweeting congratulations to Sir Chris and Sarra, prompting him to tweet his thanks, adding that he is sharing as many of them as he can with his wife and child.
Sarra has also taken to Twitter to thank her followers for their support. She wrote that she was “utterly overwhelmed" by the "love, kindness and support" she had been shown, and added that she been "helped tremendously in the last 24 hours" by other people's success stories of premature babies born at a similar time.
Welcome to the world, baby Callum! The Playpennies team wishes the Hoy family all the best.
