How much money do you spend on sweets and goodies to give to Trick Or Treaters at Halloween?
Call me stingy (go on, I dare you…) but I make it my mission to spend as little as possible. We're talking under a tenner if I can possibly get away with it. No decorations either – much to the annoyance of my pre-teen son, who would happily have the place decked out like the Walking Dead set if I'd let him.
That said, I draw the line at buying nasty cheap chocolate and make sure I get the good stuff – I just refuse to pay over the odds supplying the neighbourhood's little darlings with their candy fix.
And I'm not alone - during a quick straw poll of the office a friend says she buys three or four multipacks of treat size chocolate bars and then pops a note on the door to say they've run out of treats once those are gone. Job done.
But another of our team goes to the other extreme, spending not far off £100 on treats and goodies – all lovingly packaged in individual goody bags.
And according to one recent study (by OnBuy) some UK cities are more generous than others when it comes to trick or treaters at Halloween, with residents of Hull spending an average of just £1.25 on sweets, while those who live in Leeds splash out more like £16.40 on treats for door-knockers at Halloween.
So what about you? Do you go mad buying treats a-plenty at Halloween or do you begrudge forking out on sweets for other people's kids, and try to spend as little as possible?
