Putting up the Christmas Tree is so much fun, but you can make it even better by making your own Edible Christmas Tree Decorations. Have a look at our cool ideas, all that can be eaten instead of put away in a box!
Popcorn
Forget the Tinsel and have strings of Popcorn draped on your tree. Pop your own corn or buy a packet. Grab a needle, thread and make the popcorn into a yummy decoration. You can colour it too if you like with Spray Food Colouring*.
Boiled Sweets
Line a baking tray with parchment and place some festive shaped Cookie Cutters* on. Spray inside the cutters with cooking spray, and place some boiled sweets in. Bake for 3-8 minutes (or until melted) at 175c. Spray a toothpick and make holes in the top of each decoration. Once your decorations have hardened, carefully pop them out and thread with thread or ribbon.
Gingerbread
Grab a large bowl and mix 350g plain flour, 5 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda and 100g butter all together with fingertips until crumbly. Add 175g light brown sugar, 4 tablespoons of syrup and 1 medium egg and mix until it's a pastry consistency. Roll out your mix and cut into shapes of your choice. Remember to make holes at the top, so you can thread them. Bake at 180c for 15 minutes (12 min for fan assisted ovens). Decorate with icing and sweets and thread with ribbon.
Chocolate
Melt chocolate of your choice over a pan of hot water (or in the microwave if you are very careful not to burn it). Place some Cookie Cutters onto a baking tray lined with parchment. Chuck on some sprinkles, mini cubes of fudge or leave plain. Wrap in cellophane and finish with a festive ribbon so they can hang on the tree. If you want you can pipe on some white/milk (opposite to what you used) chocolate to write names or messages.
