Child Tax Credits Change TODAY

Child Tax Credits Change TODAY

Changes to Child Tax Credits come into force today.

New guidelines, which take effect as of today, limit Child Tax Credit payments to the first two children in a family.

It's expected that the changes will hit lower income families hard, but it will only apply to children born after today's date.

So if you already receive Child Tax Credits for more than two children, your payments won't be affected.

Child Benefit, which is separate, is unaffected.

Worth up to £2,780 per child per year, Child Tax Credits will now only be paid for the first two children in any family.

The 'family element' of Child Tax Credits is also being scrapped, meaning families who have a first child after today's date won't be entitled to the £554 payment.

You can click here for more information from the government about what you're entitled to in terms of Child Tax Credits.

Will you lose out under the new arrangement?

I am currently pregnant with my 3rd child but my partner left us soon after I found out. My daughter is nearly 17 and is still in education so I receive working and child tax credits for her and my 2 year old daughter. My daughter goes to private nursery while I am at work which I now get help with as I'm single. When i have had the baby I would like to return to work but does the new rules mean I won't get help with childcare for the baby? If it does it means I can't return to work

The best news I have heard in years.! Those who choose to have more than two children should make sure that they can afford them. A large proportion do not work and get more and more benefits whilst the hard workers have to pay for childcare which often can take up to 50% of their income.

It is so unfair, the hard workers lose out all ends up. If you buy your own property it is taken away from you if you need to go in to care when you reach, or are lucky enough to reach old age.

Those who have lived off benefits all their lives pay nothing.

Working and saving for retirement is a waste of time. Even pensions are made up to the same.

I hope that I live long enough to be able to enjoy my hard earned savings.

At last the government are seeing sense. I can predict the population will be going down somewhat from today. Maybe the NHS will get chance to improve their services in the urgent areas with less maternity demands. How much does it cost just for the medical care from pregnancy to birth I wonder?

There are jobs available for those who want to work but only make excuses not to.

      Very sad really.
