I know I'm not the target audience for these Malory Towers books anymore, but I might just have to buy them regardless; I read them when I was a little girl and I LOVED them!
I remember some parts of the stories so vividly, even now, that it feels like I read them just the other day...not THIRTY or more years ago (wow, I've just made myself feel really old!).
They tell the story of a girl named Darrell who goes off to the Malory Towers boarding school and each book charts every year of her time there.
There are, of course, nice girls and not-so-nice girls and tales of rivalry and general girly 'nastiness' abound, but in true Enid Blyton style things tend to work out ok in the end.
The covers are different now - I can't say I like them, the ones I had were water colour paintings of real girls, rather than cartoons - but the stories are just the same.
I distinctly remember wanting to be Darrell Rivers (such a GREAT name) and hoping my mum would send me off to boarding school too, so I could have a jolly fun time as well.
The Book People are selling the entire set of five books for just £4.99, which is an absolute bargain when I think of the immense enjoyment that's going to be had whilst reading them.
