The limit on this one is 10,000 points which would cost £100 but you can do it once, twice or anywhere in between up to the limit.
Ok, I hear you ask why would I spend £5 on a pre order game just to get 500 points? Surely I’m just breaking even? This is a sneaky trick that myself and many others have been doing for a long time and if you read on I’ll tell you why I love it and will be picking some up today.
Tesco are currently offering 500 points on pre orders of ‘Call of Duty : Advanced Warfare’, Destiny’ . ‘Destiny Infinity 2.0′. ‘Fifa 15′ and ‘Battlefield Hardline’ on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. So you go in store, find the game(s) you want, pay your £5 and get your pre order slip, showing your 500 points. That’s it, you’re never going back for the game-unless you want to of course but I never have.
The beauty of these is in the Tesco Clubcard Boost scheme. Remember we blogged about Tesco offering 5x the value of Clubcard vouchers on family days out recently? That £5 you just spent in store would have now been worth £25 worth of days out vouchers for you and your family. That has now ended but they run similar promotions often, currently it’s £2 of vouchers for a family day out. The trick is to build up your vouchers and be ready to move when the deal you’re after for your family goes on offer.
Or at Christmas. Tesco have never failed to offer “double up” on toys yet, so here, every £5 you spend on pre order games is now worth £10 or if you like, half price toys from Tesco for the kids for Christmas. There’s a whole load of other partners too on boost from Ticketmaster to Avios and the exchange rate varies. Have a look and see what you could save for.
Of course these offers are never guaranteed but the bottom line is that you could simply spend your £5 Clubcard voucher in store on groceries, so breaking even but no serious points collectors do that.
There is a limit, as I’ve mentioned above, and Tesco have been known to clamp down on people who abuse the scheme. This is often quoted “It is acceptable to buy one copy of each game one each format per Clubcard” so with 5 games and 4 formats you have plenty of choice.
Do any of you collect points like this already? What do you think of this?
